Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon’s recall campaign on Wednesday yielded the county registrar’s 717,000 signatures—26 percent more than the 566,857 voter goal required if some signatures were rejected.
According to Fox News’ Bill Melugin, the campaign exceeded its 700,000 goal and rallied 150,000, weeks after two police officers ambushed a man who had been released because of Gascon’s soft policies.
BREAKING: LA DA Recall Campaign @GeorgeGascon reported that it had collected 717,000 signatures today. 566,857 needs to be verified. 700k for “laying” targets. They took over 150,000 in the last few weeks after the 2 El Monte cops were killed. @Fox News

As Breitbart News reported on Wednesday, the campaign had reached its goal of 10% of all registered voters in Los Angeles County by mid-June, but continued to garner more signatures. This is the largest petition in the history of the county.
A similar attempt failed in 2021, but activists and organizers gained greater public support for a second time.
The campaign hopes to commemorate Gascon, who was elected in 2020 with the multi-million dollar support of left-wing billionaire George Soros. Last month, San Francisco voters recalled radical district attorney Cheza Boudin.
Both San Francisco and Los Angeles experienced waves of crime at the height of the Democratic Party’s efforts to meet the demands of the Black Lives Matter movement, including “criminal justice reform” and defending the police.
If the signatures can be verified after legal trouble, Gascon’s recall could appear in the November vote in Los Angeles.
