The case of the fans that ended in a criminal complaint

Right at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the municipalities of the Algarve came together and offered 30 ventilators to hospitals in Faro and Portimão. But these teams never been used — The technical problems that they presented did not even allow the settlement and the case generated a push of responsibilities to the fans that has been dragging on for more than two years. This process began by letter, in a communication between the institutions involved, but quickly became news in the newspapers. The case (still unresolved) came to court in the form of a criminal complaint for defamation.

Employees of one of those institutions, the Centro Biomédico do Algarve (ABC), demonstrated last Wednesday at the facilities of the other institution involved in the process, the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA). Given that the activity of the former may be conditioned by that of the latter —due to the instability caused by this case—, the employees say they are concerned about the continuity and normal operation of the projects they have in progress.
