The PCP waits between 900 and 1,000 delegates in the National Conference of the party, in November, and all the militants can present proposals for amendments to the draft resolution from this Thursday until October 27.
According to the regulations published in this Thursday’s edition of ¡Avante!, the PCP National Conference will be “made up of delegates directly elected by the plenary assemblies and by inherent delegates” in the proportion of one delegate for every 70 militants.

Questioned by Lusa, an official party source said that “900 and 1,000 delegates” are expected at the conference to be held at the Alto do Moinho Municipal Pavilion, in Corroios, in the municipality of Seixal, but the exact number should only be known with the proximity of the date.
In the case of organizations in which the number of Party members is less than 70, the organs of immediate superior responsibility, in order to guarantee that all Party members have the right to elect and be elected as delegates to the National Conference, they will be able to convene plenary assemblies that group the different organizations, respecting the proportion of one delegate for every 70 registered militants”, clarifies the regulation.
The delegates are inherently 129 members of the Central Committee, including the general secretary, Jerónimo de Sousamembers of the Central Control Commission and members of the national leadership of the communist youth.
In this Thursday’s edition of the communist newspaper, the draft resolution of the National Conference of the PCP was also published, which includes as objectives the training of 1,000 employees by the end of 2024oh continuous reinforcement of the ranks of the party and its action among the workersthrough trade union structures, for example, the CGTP.

The objective of the day is to listen to the militants to rethink the PCP, therefore, the the text is not final. A party source said that any militant can make changes to the draft resolution from this Thursday until October 27, being able to propose changes to whatever they want in the 16-page document.
A amendment proposals can also come out of the plenary assemblies of local organizations. However, only militants belonging to a certain structure can participate in the meetings of that structure. The militants who belong to more than one are “destined” to the one where they “normally pay” the dues.
The fourth National Conference will be held between November 12 and 13. According to the PCP, listening to the communist structures aims to reframe the party to the national reality —the absolute majority of the PS and the degradation of the living conditions of the Portuguese— and international reality —the uncertainty about the reconfiguration of the international geopolitical panorama and what which the party calls the “confrontational stance” of the United States and NATO against Russia and China.
