The Association of Police Professionals (ASPP/PSP) held a protest this Tuesday afternoon in front of the Assembly of the Republic, in Lisbon, on the day the Minister of Internal Administration meets with the PSP unions.
Within the framework of the campaign “Dignity is not charity”, the protest action of the ASPP intends to express “the opposition to the mix between charity and professional dignity that the Government intends to print” and “demonstrate once again that it is necessary to invest in safety”. and dignify professionals”. of the Public Security Police.
The president of the ASPP, Paulo Santos, told Lusa that the Government prepares a package of social measures for the policesuch as housing or nurseries for the children of police officers, but insisted that “questions of salary dignity, improvement of working conditions and respect for police status cannot be answered with charity or social assistance.”
The concentration occurs the day after the Government presented the State Budget (OE) proposal for 2023 to the Assembly of the Republic and the day that Minister José Luís Carneiro has a meeting with the unions of the Public Security Police.
