As Shefter points out, Kaepernick became a national figure when he spent the entire 2016 season protesting the country and kneeling and playing the national anthem.
When he first launched his protests in 2016, former NFL player Colin Kaepernick openly said he couldn’t stand the American flag. His protest was a direct attack on the flag and country, which he said in his own words in August 2016.
“I will not stand up to be proud of the flag of a country that oppresses blacks and people of color. It’s more than just football for me and it would be selfish to look the other way. “There are corpses in the streets, people get paid vacations and they survived the murder,” he said.
Kaepernick provided further details about the nature of his protests in 2016. For example, he wore a shirt praising Fidel Castro, a mass murderer and self-proclaimed Cuban dictator of America. Kaepernick also revealed that she didn’t protest some police misconduct when she wore socks that identified all cops as pigs.
Also in 2016, Kaepernick noted that in the anthem protests, the United States was never okay and opposed not just to support “social justice” but to the entire country as a whole.
The former NFL player also voiced her protest at the flag when Nike forced her to drop her Betsy Ross flag running shoes in 2019. He left to attack Nike for the proposal. In one of her speeches against Nike, Kaepernick even said that the American flag, Betsy Ross, was a “symbol of slavery.”
Not surprisingly, Nike immediately softened and shelved its patriotic shoe plans.
He has since also accused the NFL of treating players as “slaves.” He made the claim as part of a series in which he accused the NFL of treating black players as if they were being auctioned off by slaves.

It should also be noted that Kaepernick is not playing professional football today as he turned down every opportunity presented to him.
Kaepernick left the San Francisco 49ers to stay with the team in 2017 because he wanted more money. After that, he also turned down a few opportunities, not to mention that the NFL was making a circus from his 2019 practice offer.
Kaepernick continues to call the NFL a bit of a slaver, but he continues to say he wants another chance to pursue his NFL career.
