Spanish star Rafael Nadal admitted it “would be very difficult” if he didn’t find a solution to his foot problem when he told AFP about a chronic left leg injury he suffered after he stripped Serb Novak Djokovic of the French title at Roland Garros. and advance to the semi-finals.

When asked if this will be his last participation in Roland Garros, does this reflect his feelings?

Nadal answered in the affirmative. I am very clear about this. I am old enough (35) not to hide anything. I don’t know what can happen after that, I have what I have on my feet. If we cannot find a solution, it will be very difficult for me. That’s all. I enjoy every day because I’m lucky to be here without thinking too much about what might happen in the future. Of course, I will continue to fight to find a solution, but at the moment we do not have a solution. The last three and a half months have not been easy for me, that’s all I can say. In Rome (the final price was cut in mid-May due to severe pain in my legs) there was no doctor next to me. With a doctor here, you can do something to help. Now is not the time to talk about it, but I am doing my best to try and play this tournament in the best possible conditions. To be honest, I don’t know what might happen next.”

When asked if he’s surprised by the level he’s showing, Nadal replied: “He’s surprised, yes, I won’t lie. But these stadiums are special to me (meaning his 13th Roland Garros title), they have something unique (It’s true that on the day when I really needed it, I could play at the level, which I didn’t have until a while ago. When you know there’s no other way but to play with that level of aggression, with that mental drive and in all areas of the game, when you know there’s no plan B, you do your best. You have a plan or you go home It helps a little bit to be demanding of yourself It is very difficult when you come for months without doing it (giving your all) either in training or in competition “I am at the level that I am I need to get a real chance. It means a lot to me to be successful.”

Asked about how to recuperate before the end of the French championship after a match with such intense competition, Nadal said:

“I have experience… This evening was full of emotions. But it was only a quarter-final match. I haven’t won anything yet, just gave myself a chance to get back (on the field) in two days. and play in the semi-finals again here at Roland Garros. “It means a lot to me. I am not one of those who are emotionally volatile. Now I am very stable (mentally and psychologically).” “It’s time to enjoy, because I had a great evening full of emotions. But tomorrow I’ll start thinking again about the things I need to do to be ready for the semi-finals. The goal is to keep the level of play I played today (Tuesday).”

And Nadal will meet in the semifinals with the world’s third German Alexander Zverev, who defeated the young Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.
