The Portuguese women’s football coach, Francisco Neto, tested positive for coronavirus and was unable to train the team, which is preparing to participate in the European Championship, the Portuguese Football Federation reported on Tuesday.
“Francisco Neto tested positive for Covid-19 and will comply with the recommendations of the General Directorate of Health for these cases,” reads the FPF website, which adds that the coach “is isolated in Casa dos Atletas, joining the team after the period of confinement”.
According to the same note, Francisco Neto no longer guided the formation and he was replaced by assistants Luís Marques and Rita Gonçalves.
The Portuguese team began this Monday to prepare for the European women’s footballwhich will take place in England in July.
Portugal, which replaced Russia, suspended due to the invasion of Ukraine, is part of Group Cagainst Switzerland (July 9), the Netherlands (13) and Sweden (17).
