Japan’s Naomi Osaka will miss Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam of the season, meaning she won’t be playing the entire tournament on grass.

The world number 43 has not played an official match since being eliminated from the Roland Garros tournament from the first round, and may miss Wimbledon after the decision not to count points as a result of the decision of the tournament organizers not to allow participation Russian and Belarusian players due to the crisis between Russia and Ukraine.

“I don’t know why, but if I play Wimbledon without points, the tournament will become an exhibition and I won’t be able to give my best,” Osaka said in Paris.

Osaka missed Wimbledon last year after falling out with Roland Garros organizers over refusing to attend press conferences and has not played on grass since 2019.

Osaka never managed to get past the third round of Wimbledon.
