Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos explained why he didn’t come to Marcelo’s farewell party.
Marcelo said goodbye to Real Madrid last week. Roberto Carlos was absent. But he explained: “For me, Marcelo is the greatest left-back of all time. He knows I think so, I’ve told him so many times. He will move on to the next chapter in his professional career. He only has four or five years left in the game. Here at Real Madrid we are very grateful to him – for the titles he has won – 25 if I’m not mistaken – the same thing happened to me.”
He continued, “I didn’t go to the farewell party because I knew I would cry. I saw him grow up and I saw what he did. I am grateful for the career he has enjoyed and the good fortune he has had in his life. .”
He added: “Roberto Carlos or Marcelo? There is no disagreement between me and Marcelo – he is almost like my son. Seeing Marcelo win and make history with Real Madrid is like winning everything with him.”
