Chelsea president Bruce Buck will step down on June 30 after 19 years at the helm of the London club, the club that competes in the English Football League announced on Monday.
After the purchase of Chelsea by the American Todd Boehly, the plan was for Bruce Buck to continue as presidentbut the lawyer decided step down and assume the role of advisor in the Stamford Bridge team.
“Now is the right time to step aside and let the new owners take over the club. They have the right vision for Chelsea’s future and I look forward to helping them achieve those goals in this new role I’m taking on.”
Bruce Buck became Chelsea chairman when Russian millionaire Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003 and since then the English club has won 18 titles, including two Champions Leagues.
Todd Boehly, the new owner of Chelsea, thanked Bruce Buck for his services and considered that the now former president raised the London emblem to the highest level.
