Four-time professional golf champion Brooks Kepka is the biggest name in golf to move from the PGA Tour to the new Saudi-backed LIV golf league.
The 32-year-old remained at the top for 47 weeks before several minor injuries delayed his run. Currently ranked 19th on the PGA Tour Pros.
The new league, backed by the Saudi Arabian Sovereign Investment Fund, has not made an official statement, but sources close to the golfer told ESPN the deal has been made.
Kepka is expected to make his LIV debut on June 30 in a New USA League game at Pumpkin Ridge Stadium in Portland, Oregon.
Florida-born Koepka has 8 wins on the PGA Tour, 6 wins on the European Tour and two on the Japanese Tour. He also won the PGA Championship in 2018 and 2019 and won the US Open twice in 2017 and 2018.
A few other golfers will also join Koepka at LIV. Abraham Ünser, who finished 20th, is leaving the PGA Tour.
In fact, eight of PGA’s top 50 players are now LIV members.
The new league also made headlines earlier this month when the PGA Tour suspended 17 players who announced they were in the Saudi-backed league.
