Moroccan police have arrested 84 fans suspected of being involved in riots after two local football league matches in the cities of Casablanca and Oujda.

Casablanca security said its members arrested 45 people, including 31 minors, “suspected of committing acts of sporting disorder” during and after the fight between Raja Casablanca and the Royal Army on th 29 and penultimate stage on Wednesday night.

He explained that the suspects “threw stones at law enforcement officers, injuring four policemen with varying degrees of severity” and also damaged two private vehicles.

In the city of Oujda, police arrested 39 people on the sideline of a fight in Muludia, Oujda and Wydad Casablanca at one stage “for their involvement in throwing, sporting riots, theft and possession of white weapons.”

These incidents resulted in minor injuries to 69 security personnel and property damage to police vehicles.
