Sevilla sporting director Monchi has revealed the truth about Barcelona’s talks to sign French defender Jules Condé during the current summer transfer market.

Conde’s name was associated with a move to the Blue Garnet ranks, in light of coach Javi Hernandez’s strong desire to strengthen the center of defense.

“Currently there is no contact with Barcelona regarding Conde,” Monci said during comments highlighted by Fabrizio Romano, Europe transfer market expert, on Twitter.

He added: “I understand that Xavi wants to rely on Conde and Araujo together in the center of defense and that would of course be a great duo, but there’s nothing.”

And about Sevilla’s interest in Maracao, the defender of the Turkish Galatasaray, he said: “Of course, this is one of the options on my list.”

Conde’s contract with Sevilla has been extended until the summer of 2024, with recent press reports indicating that Sevilla need €65m to agree to the Frenchman’s departure.
