Syria took first place in the second West Asian Youth (U20) Athletics Championships organized by the Lebanese Federation for playing with great success at the Jamhour Club stadium over four days under the auspices of President Michel Aoun and with nine countries participating.

Qatar finished second, one gold ahead of Syria and Iraq, third, two gold behind first, Kuwait fourth, and Lebanon fifth.

The competitions of the fourth and last day were held in the presence of the President of the West Asian Federation Sayyar Al-Enezi, his deputy Muhammad Issa Al-Fadal and members of the Federation, the President of the Lebanese Athletics Federation. Roland Saadeh and members of the Federation, Championship Director Wissam Al-Houli, heads and members of the delegations participating in the tournament, the Lebanese athletics family and members of the press, as well as representatives of local and Arab media.
