The Higher Committee of the Cairo International Experimental Theater Festival has decided that this year’s session will bear the name of the theater legend and one of the most famous directors of the 20th century, the Briton Peter Brook, who passed away a few days later . back at age 97. In recognition of his “great theater history, experience and research that influenced the theater movement and research in the world, he is one of the pioneers of theatrical experimentation in the world.”

The twenty -ninth session of the “Cairo International Experimental Theater Festival” will be held from 1 to 8 September 2022 under the direction of Gamal Yakut and under the auspices of the Minister of Culture of Egypt, Enas Abdel Dayem.
The event aims to showcase the latest developments in the international theater scene to Egyptian and Arab audiences, as well as present a panorama of local and regional theater performances to professionals, festivals and stakeholders. from all over the world.
The festival’s top prize, worth 500,000 Egyptian pounds (over $ 26,000), was awarded for “best show”, while five other prizes, determined by the jury, went to various elements of show. each worth 100,000 Egyptian pounds (over $ 5,000).
