McLaren Formula 1 team principal Andreas Seidl believes Formula 1 must find a solution to the problem dubbed “DRS train” during racing. It should be noted that the DRS system aims to reduce aerodynamic drag in order to increase top speed and improve overtaking during racing. This is done through the adjustable rear spoiler of the car. The driver can benefit from this system if he does not move more than a second away from the driver in front. But when it is called a “DRS train”, it means that several cars are behind each other and everyone benefits from it, which makes it useless.
“I think we have discussed this topic from time to time,” said Seidl. “It is something we need to revisit with other teams, Formula 1 and the FIA. from a competitive point of view, but we still have a train problem that needs to be addressed.”
