Canadian swimmer Mary-Sophie Harvey has warned her friends, fans and other athletes to be careful after she said she had somehow started on drugs as the FINA World Championships drew to a close last weekend.
The medal-winning swimmer said he was in Budapest, Hungary, on Sunday, causing him to miss six hours when something landed on him.
“I was on drugs (sic) on the last night of the World Cup,” Harvey wrote on Instagram.
“I remember waking up the next morning completely lost, when I did not understand what was going on inside me; with our team manager and the doctor in my bed,” Harvey continued.
“I remember celebrating my competition, but I was also sober and aware of my next target, the Commonwealth Games,” he wrote. But then I don’t remember anything. A four or six hour window where I don’t remember anything. I heard quotes from people and also experienced condemnation. ”
He added that he was “ashamed” of the incident.
He also added pictures of some of the bruises he saw on his body after he woke up. He also said that there are others in intimate places that he is afraid to show off.

“I don’t feel like the body I’m in (I still feel). I went home and saw a dozen bruises on my body. “Some of my friends told me they[bred]me unconscious after that and they probably explained why,” Harvey said.
Adding that women who let go of the microphone in restaurants and bars are “more common than you think”, Harvey said, “I thought I was safe, that this would never happen to me, especially around me.[y] Friend. But it did…and I wish someone had told me before that night.”
Harvey thinks the attack eclipsed his bronze medal in the 4x200m freestyle at the World Championships.
Harvey won three silver and one bronze medals at the 2019 Pan American Games.
