Kazakh star Yelena Rybakina made history by winning the Wimbledon Open, the third Grand Slam tournament, defeating Tunisian rival Anas Zhaber by two to one in the final held on Wimbledon’s main court.
Rybakina became the first Kazakhstani tennis player to win a Grand Slam tournament in women’s and men’s singles or doubles, as well as the first Kazakhstani tennis player in the open era to win a WTA grass title, 3 championships and 23rd in the world. – Lowest-ranked player in the open era to win the title at Wimbledon since Venus Williams won the title in 2007 when she was ranked 31st in the world.
Elena Rybakina became the second youngest player to win Wimbledon after Petra Kvitova who won the title in 2011.
