American Fred Curley won gold in the 100m for the third time in the history of the championship at the 18th World Championships in Athletics in Eugene in the American trio.

Curley clocked 9.86 seconds ahead of compatriots Marvin Bracey and Trayvon Brommel who both clocked 9.88 seconds.

Their compatriot Christian Coleman, reigning Doha 2019 champion, finished sixth with a time of 10.01 seconds.

Many pundits laughed when Kerley decided to jump from the 400m to the 100m last year, but the tall, muscular American proved himself right by taking silver at the Tokyo Olympics, which he followed up with a world title today.

“I didn’t know I was being crowned until I looked up and saw a watch with my name ‘Fred Curley’ written on it,” Curley said. I did what few 400m runners do.”

“It’s amazing among the greats, they did it in 1991, we did it in 2022,” he added, referring to the treble that the United States achieved for the third time since 1983 (Carl Lewis, Calvin Smith, Emmett King) and 1991. (Carl Lewis, Leroy Borrell and Dennis Mitchell).

“It was amazing to do it at home and the fans behind us, we said we would do it and we did it. Winning is the most important thing. I’m back on my playing field,” he said, recalling his 100, 200 and reel jumping in high school and college.
