Food expert Yulia Lemysheva said it is better to buy watermelons from supermarkets and certified markets, where they are tested for pesticides, nitrates and radionuclides.
He pointed out that these terms and conditions do not exist in random points of sale scattered on the streets of cities.
In his opinion, it is better to buy a watermelon weighing seven to nine kilograms with many different stripes and small orange-yellow spots.
When the hand touches the ripe watermelon, a clear resonance echo can be heard and felt in the hand.
The expert said: “Those who have long and experienced watermelon eaters often know how to choose the right watermelon. They hit it with their fists. The ripe fruit makes a clear and resonant sound, and the unripe watermelon responds warm and empty. ”
He advised Lemysheva to put the watermelon near the ear and press it a little, – the ripe fruit would crack a little.
The expert stressed that watermelons should be stored in a place where the temperature is between 10 and 15 degrees and the humidity limit is between 80-90 percent. In general, watermelons can be stored for several months.
