New players Sadio Mane and Matthijs de Ligt scored their first goals in Bayern Munich’s 6-2 win over DC United in a pre-season friendly that brought the two teams together in America.
Mane, who joined Bayern last month after six years at English giants Liverpool, opened his scoring for German champions with a penalty five minutes into the match.
The one-sided meeting confirmed the job ahead of former England and Manchester United star Wayne Rooney, who was recently named manager of the struggling DC United.
Bayern doubled their lead in the 12th minute with a strike from Marcel Sabitzer, with Serge Gnabry scoring the third shortly before the end of the first half.
Then De Ligt, who joined from Juventus earlier this week, scored the fourth goal in his first appearance since coming on as a first-half substitute.
Joshua Zirkzi added a fifth in the 51st minute before Sky Leland scored the first for DC United three minutes later and fellow Theodore Co-Dipetro scored the second with three minutes remaining.
Thomas Müller ended Bayern’s goal streak in the 90th minute of the match, ending the match 6-2.
