Miami Marlins pitcher Daniel Castano was hit at 104 mph on the track Thursday, but recovered soon after, a viral video showed.
In the Marlins’ game against the Cincinnati Reds, Castano was in the line of fire when Reds third baseman Donovan Solano struck the pitcher a sharp, hard blow.
The ball went over 27-year-old Castano’s head and bounced thirty meters into the air, eventually resulting in a teammate’s glove and kicking the Reds out.
Not surprisingly, after the punch, Castano quickly fell to his knees.

A few minutes later, however, Castano bravely stood up and signaled that he was fine.
Marlins manager Don Mattingly later noted that the ball hit the bottom of the pitcher’s lid by adding a layer of cushion between his head and the ball. Thus, he survived serious injuries.
Another look at the event shows how quickly the ball returns to Castano’s head.
