International press reports have shown that a possible trade deal between Barcelona and Chelsea is on the horizon during the current summer Mercato.

Blues duo Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso have been linked with a move to Barcelona during this summer’s transfers, but the London-based club doesn’t want to end the process.

For their part, the London club want to boost their midfield with a high-profile player, as they have targeted Dutchman Frenkie de Jong to bolster the team’s ranks, in light of the Catalan club’s desire to drop him in order to sign up their new players.

And Sky Sport has indicated that Chelsea are looking to sign de Jong, who is much wanted by Manchester United, who have repeatedly turned down Ten Hag’s new project.

The network added that a possible exchange deal could decide the position of all parties: De Jong will move to the Blues in exchange for Alonso, and Azpilicueta to the Catalan club.
