The coach of Desportivo de Chaves admitted this Saturday that the squad is still in training, but assured that the team is ready to fight for victory in the return to the I Football League, against Vitória de Guimarães.
“We are aware, and the administration too, that several players still need to arrive, it is a squad that we are still forming. But the players we have are the best in the world because they are the ones who are with us”, Vítor Campelos stressed, at the press conference prior to the reception at Vitória de Guimarães, on Sunday at 8:30 p.m., for the first first division round. .
With the official matches at the ‘door’, Vítor Campelos assured that he is focused “on day-to-day work and preparing for the match in the best way”, having also made a positive assessment of the preseason, in which he worked with many players from the satellite team, Pedras Salgadas, from the Portuguese Championship, explaining that the future depends on valuing young people.
The pre-season was very positive and we are as well prepared as possible, within what we have in our hands to work on”, he guaranteed.
As for the reinforcements, the 47-year-old coach, who held up the Chaves shield last season, explained that he gave the board a list of the players he wanted to renew and those who were hired, but that, for what the “market dictates” it is not always possible to obtain the first options.
With the squad, up to now, based on the team that climbed from the division, Campelos stressed that these players “now are first” and “are going to think as such.”
“It’s going to be an important game for them, it’s the first of a marathon of games, but we have to think that every week we have a 100-meter race,” he said.
About the rival, the coach, who is from Guimarães and has trained teams from Vitória, including the main team, highlighted “the strong squad that always has the support of the fans”.

“We know that we are going to have difficulties, because in the I League all the games are very difficult and Vitória is fighting for the first places”, he warned.
At Desportivo de Chaves since February 2021, Vítor Campelos also recalled that he had always had good results in Trás-os-Montes, although he pointed out that now the level is higher: “We are going to face teams with greater capacity and quality, but we want maintain that desideratum.”
Trás-os-Montes, who did not reveal the squad list, cannot count on Euller, Rodrigo Moura, Juninho and Obiora, due to injury, and Sylla, due to suspension.
