Tennis player Novak Djokovic has officially announced that he will not be able to participate in the US Open due to the Biden administration’s policy that prevents unvaccinated non-citizens from entering the US.
Djokovic announced this on Twitter:
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to go to New York for the US Open this time. Thank you #NoleFam for your messages of love and support. Good luck to my fellow players! I will maintain my good form and positive attitude and look forward to competing again.

Biden’s legal entry ban to the US for unvaccinated non-citizens began in October 2021.
There is some hope that a recent review of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines could lead to a change that would allow the Serbian tennis star to tour Flushing Meadows in Queens, New York. Unfortunately, easing restrictions have not been recommended by the national health protection agency.
However, if Djokovic wanted to enter the country illegally, he could easily do so at the southern border, and if he entered Texas, Governor Abbott could even arrange for Djokovic to travel to New York by bus.
