Pedro Adão e Silva asked, in a note sent to the newsrooms, that the governing body of Portuguese football “reconsider” the decision.
I follow with great concern a decision that limits the freedom of the press and that violates the basic principles of our Constitution. Journalists are, by definition, free to ask whatever questions they see fit. Therefore, I call on the FPF Disciplinary Board to reconsider its position.”
The Union of Journalists (SJ), in a note published on its website, says that the decision is an “attack on freedom of the press” considering that the issue was framed in the context of the party of August 27. They also see the situation as avery serious form of censorship absolutely prohibited in the Portuguese legal system“.
