Former Chelsea player William Gallas has criticized new Chelsea owner Todd Boly for this summer’s deals and the ‘desperate’ signing of striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Gallas said: “I feel that the Chelsea transfer window, despite the amount of money spent, was the result of quick decisions. The club has seen many changes this summer with the arrival of a new owner and taking on a hands-on role in recruiting.”

“I think Boelli wanted to show his commitment to the club, but I don’t think he had the right approach to this transfer window.”

He added: “They spent a lot of money, but I’m convinced they could have done better. It’s hard to understand football these days. Look at Aubameyang. He left Arsenal in January, between him and the club, he went to Barcelona and now he’s back in the Premier League six months later. I feel like the Chelsea board of directors threw themselves into the transfer window and were desperate to get a striker before the window closed.”
