Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti spoke after his team’s 2-0 victory over RB Leipzig at the Santiago Bernabeu in the second round of the Champions League group stage.

In a press interview, Ancelotti said: “The game wasn’t good, we wanted to play to win, the defensive awareness was good, so I didn’t push the midfielders much forward.”

He added: “The fatigue that gripped the opposition allowed us to put more pressure on us and we deserved to win. I have players who are smart enough to win matches.”
Regarding Asensio and Vinicius, he said: “Acisio showed a good game and was determined to win. As for Vinicius, he is focused on matches and loves football, and he also maintains continuity in the game.”

As for the top scorer, Valverde continued: “I asked him to shoot with his left foot, and in case he scores less than ten goals this season, my training card should be torn. We need to wait a bit for Valverde to be the best in the world in his position.”

On Benzema and the possibility of his participation in the derby, he concluded: “We will not risk him. If he trains well on Saturday, we will use him, and if he is not in the best shape, he will not play.”
