Bahrain Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Asian Football Confederation, has received a written letter of support from 46 national federations in the upcoming federation presidential elections, according to what was revealed by an official Asian source to AFP, Al-Riyadiyah stressed.

The source indicated that Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa’s receipt of a written letter of support from 46 out of 47 federations indicates his re-election by acclamation for a new term.

Al Khalifa, 57, announced last May his intention to run for a third term in elections scheduled for early February 2023 after he was elected unopposed in 2019.

Salman Al Khalifa was elected in 2013 as President of the Asian Confederation to complete the remaining two years of former Qatari President Mohammed bin Hammam’s term after he defeated former UAE Federation President Youssef Al-Sarkal and was re-elected. -elected by acclamation in 2015 to a four-year term and was scheduled to compete in 2019 with Emirati Muhammad Khalfan Al Rumaiti and Al Qatari Saud Al Muhannadi before announcing his departure.
