Sporting wins the Women’s Rugby Super Cup

Sporting won the Women’s Rugby Super Cup today after beating AEES Agrária, 31-10, in Jamor, adding the first trophy of the 2022/23 season to the titles of national champions and the Portuguese Cup from the previous season.

The ‘lions’, who achieved their third consecutive win in finals against the team from Coimbra, after decisive matches in the national championship and in the Portuguese Cup last season, thus won the fifth Super Cup in their history.

The ‘Leonese’ team won the trophy in 2017 and 2018, played in the ‘sevens’ variant, in 2019 in ‘tens’ (10 players per team) and in 2020 in 15-a-side rugby.

In 2021, the Women’s Super Cup was not played because there was no winner of the Portuguese Cup in the previous season, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
