There were 45 minutes left for the knockout stages of the Champions League in Alvalade, the play off of the Europa League came in the fifth minute of added time for Marseille. Despite having started the Champions League group stage with two wins, Sporting have only picked up one point in the last four games and ended up falling in the second European test – by the way, the one with the most tradition, being the club with the most participations in it, in a total of 34. Now a draw was made with different degrees of difficulty for the tie that will take place on February 16 and 23 but that could boost some returnees to Alvalade, like Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, José Mourinho, Rui Patrício or Gelson Martins.
At a theoretical level, Manchester United, Roma and PSV would be the most difficult rivals in the path of the lions, with the Danes from Midtjylland and the French from Nantes on the opposite plan.
- Barcelona-Manchester United
- Juventus-Nantes
- Sporting Midtjylland
- Bayer Leverkusen-Monaco
- Shakhtar Donetsk-Rennes
- Ajax-Union Berlin
- Seville-PSV
- Salzburg-Rome
