As the value of the cryptocurrency continues to decline, Matt Damon is being ridiculed for filming an ad for Crypto.com less than a year ago.
The ad, titled “Fortune favors the Brave,” first aired in October, announcing the innovative capabilities of the digital currency. In the video, shot by Wally Pfister, Christopher Nolan’s staff cinematographer, Damon poetically sings to the explorers and adventurers of past centuries and openly compares them to today’s cryptocurrency innovators.
In recent weeks, a massive sell-off has pushed the cryptocurrency market into bearish territory, depriving investors of hundreds of billions of dollars in value.
The Dive was mocked on the Internet for its advertisement for Damon. Intercept journalist Jon Schwartz realized that if you bought a $1,000 Bitcoin fund during the premiere of Damon’s crypto ad, you would now have $476.

Matt Damon isn’t the only celebrity to promote Crypto.com. NBA stars LeBron James and Joel Embiid appeared in ads for a digital commerce company.
