Whoops! The new Hyundai Ioniq 6 is already circulating on the Internet

It’s more common with some manufacturers than others, but the reality is that no automaker is immune to information leakage. Above all, images, days or hours before what should have been its official revelation. Hyundai is the latest “victim” of this situation, as the Ioniq 6 “escaped” ahead of schedule.

After the usual campaign of teaserdrawing attention to certain details of your future Aerodynamiclo and behold, the veil that still covered the exterior and interior of the Ioniq 6 falls completely. The second model of the South Korean manufacturer based on the dedicated Electrical Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) is revealed, no big surprises, very true to the concept that anticipated it, the Prophecy, presented in 2020.

From what the photo leak allows us to see, short overhangs and a wide wheelbase (2.95m, subject to confirmation) point to make the most of habitability on board. Front and rear do not differ from what is expected, in the same way that in the profile there is the expected effect of a half dome or arch describing the slope backwards, lines that were drawn to guide the air flow, in search of better aerodynamic efficiency. . . . And, for the same reason, in the photo to the side you can see that the door handles are retractable, integrating perfectly into the bodywork of the new electric and sports sedan. Another detail that the photos suggest is related to the exterior mirrors that, depending on the market, can be replaced by cameras, the images captured by them being reproduced on the two screens that “limit” the ends of the dashboard. As for the interior, everything seems to have been designed to favor the feeling of space, from the door panels to the “association” of the dashboard with the central screen, each 12 inches. Are two sample almost continuously that allow the elimination of physical controls, thus contributing to a cabin in which the lines cleansed they are not dissociated from the technological implication.

Remember that the new Ioniq 6 is a sports sedan intended to compete in the D segment, which automatically positions this Hyundai as Tesla Model 3 rival. Similar, moreover, to the future Volkswagen ID.7 based on the ID concept. air. And both will hit the road later this year, but not in Europe, where we will have to wait until 2023.

To liven up the wait, what is believed to be known is that the autonomy of the Ioniq 6 will cross the 500 km barrier (515 km, subject to confirmation) with the highest capacity battery (77.4 kWh). In terms of maximum power, expect 230 kW, that is, 313 hp on all four wheels in versions with two electric motors (one per axle). But there will be others with a single engine, combined with different packages of accumulators. From what can be seen, we can only wait for Hyundai to advance the final technical specifications.
