The Government will declare as of Friday the alert situation due to the high risk of forest fire for the next few days, the Minister of Interior Management announced this Thursday.
“The Government will activate the alert statement to limit all actions that may put the populations at risk and create all the conditions that guarantee the mobilization of the necessary and indispensable resources for the effort that the coming days will demand,” José Luís Carneiro told reporters.
The minister announced that, in the coming days, there will be a high degree of weather severity in which humidity levels will be very low and temperatures very high with very dry vegetation.
The ruler added that it will be days “very demanding and worrying” regarding rural fire risk.
José Luís Carneiro, together with the Minister of the Environment and Climate Action, Duarte Cordeiro, and the Secretary of State for Civil Protection, Patrícia Gaspar, participated this Thursday morning in the meeting of the National Center for Operational Coordination (CCON), in the headquarters of the National Directorate of Emergencies and Civil Protection, in Carnaxide.
