Renault sold 1,000,199 vehicles in the first half of the year, 29.7% less than in the same period of 2021, largely due to the loss of the Russian market, it was announced on Tuesday.
Excluding Russia, where the French group ceased all activity after the invasion of Ukraine, sales fell by 12%, the French manufacturer explained in a statement released.
This drop is mainly due to the semiconductor shortage which prevents manufacturers from responding to demand, he adds.
Russia, which in the first half of last year was the second most important country for Renault after France, with 270,285 vehicles solddisappeared from the statistics for the first half of 2022, with zero sales recorded.
France remained the largest market with 241,607 registrations, but significantly down from the 287,602 registered a year ago, and Italy was second with 73,986 units (compared to 82,951 in the first half of 2021).

The low-cost brand Dacia, for its part, increased registrations worldwide by 5.9% to 262,487 units, which is largely explained by the Sandero -the best-selling model to individuals in Europe for the fifth consecutive year – and the Duster SUV.
The South Korean subsidiary Renault Korea Motors sold 26,908 vehicles, 6% less, and the Chinese brand Jinbei Huasong sold 13,409 units.
