The districts of Vila Real, Bragança, Guarda, Castelo Branco and Portalegre continue this Friday on red alert, the most serious, due to the heat, with more than a hundred municipalities in maximum danger of fire, according to the IPMA.
These five inner districts of the north and center will be under red notice due to the persistence of very high values of the maximum temperature until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday.
According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), the red alert corresponds to “an extreme risk weather situation”.
The IPMA also placed the districts of Viseu, Coimbra, Santarém and Évora, under orange warning because of the heat until 9:00 p.m. this Friday.
Also due to the persistence of high values of the maximum temperature, the IPMA issued a yellow warning for the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Leiria, Lisbon, Setúbal, Beja and Faro until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The orange warning indicates a moderate to high risk weather situation and the yellow warning is issued by the IPMA when there is a risk situation for certain activities depending on the weather situation.
Almost all the municipalities of the 18 districts of mainland Portugal present this Friday a maximum or very high rural fire risk.
