Bill Gates successfully lobbied Joe Manchin to pass climate and spending bill

A recent Bloomberg article details Bill Gates’ efforts to lobby Joe Manchin for a climate spending bill known as the “Reducing Inflation Act,” although it did not reduce inflation, according to the sources. Gates has worked hard to get the bill passed as it will advance his ambitious vision of the transition to clean energy.

Bloomberg reports that tech billionaire, sex pest, and notorious global interventionist Bill Gates has spent significant time lobbying Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) for new legislation that Gates claims will tackle global warming and climate change. Gates is reportedly meeting with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to keep the climate bill alive.

Gates said in an interview:[Schumer] I was told in one of the calls that he showed infinite patience,” Gates replied, “you are right, and all it takes is infinite patience and one more.”

Bloomberg said:

Gates leads with more than his trademark optimism about tackling climate change and other seemingly challenging issues that have been the focus of his attention since stepping down as Microsoft CEO two decades ago. As he told Bloomberg Green, since President Joe Biden won the White House, he has quietly lobbied at Manchin and other senators in anticipation of the rare moment when federal spending can be harnessed for a clean energy transition.

These discussions gave him reason to believe that the West Virginia senator would agree on climate change, and he was prepared to continue pushing the case to the bitter end. “Last month people thought, ‘OK, we tried, we finished, it failed,'” Gates said. “I thought it was a unique opportunity.” So he developed a relationship with Manchin that he had developed for at least three years. “We can talk even when you feel like people aren’t listening.”

Now the bill has been passed into law by President Joe Biden after a unanimous vote by Democrats. The bill was a significant victory for the Democrats, who were able to pass without a single Republican vote. “I am confident that this bill will continue to be one of the greatest in decades,” Chuck Schumer said when signing into law earlier this week.

John Carney of Breitbart News reported this month that the Reducing Inflation Act will increase deficit spending for four years, rather than lower inflation:

The Congressional Budget Office said in a forecast Wednesday that the Inflation Reduction Act would cut the budget deficit by $101.5 billion between this year and 2031, which nonpartisan analysts say will not reduce inflation.

But between this year and 2027, the budget deficit will increase by $24.6 billion. The nonpartisan budget review body predicts that the deficit will narrow next year as new tax regulations come into effect, and then widen each year through 2028.

The change relates to expectations about when drug price changes will take effect. The ten-year cost is also reduced by eliminating some of the spending provisions that Republican lawmakers have criticized as a gimmick to mask the bill’s true cost.
