It was in 2017 that Tesla introduced the Semi with pomp and circumstance, 100% electric semi-trailer tractor that promises lower running costs for those who have to transport large amounts of cargo. However, before seeing the light of day, the Semi needed to build the factory where it would be produced, which happened just this year in Texas, as well as batteries and charging stations, to deal with bulky and very long vehicles, with greater energy needs.
After many delays, Everything indicates that Tesla will finally move towards the first deliveries of the Semi later this year. In May, he appeared on the place of the brand the possibility of confirming pre-reservations already made (only in the USA), but in the second half of August the placing of orders was suspended. In its place came the “Get updates” option, this time to request information from a technical and specification point of view. The question that arises is to know why the possibility of ordering the Semi disappeared, if the production of one or two years has already been sold and the brand is preparing to revise prices higher, or for any other reason.
This video is also on the updated site. This is the same video that Tesla posted but quickly removed from his instagram page the other day haha pic.twitter.com/5abGxyD9d8

Remember that the Semi was offered at $150,000 for the Standard version and $180,000 for the Long Range version. The builder still respecting the initial datawhich aimed for a range of 300 miles (483 km) or 500 miles (805 km), when driving fully loaded, i.e. towing 82,000 pounds (37 tons).
Regarding the capacity of the battery, Tesla maintains the habit of not disclosing values, but the North American press with access to those responsible for the brand advances with 600 kWh in the Standard version and 1000 kWh in the Long Range version, the equivalent of 10 Model S Long Range batteries. The manufacturer guarantees that, in these conditions, the Semi will not exceed a consumption of 2 kWh per mile, around 1.24 kWh/km, which in its opinion is 2.5 times cheaper per mile than diesel trucks, generating savings of $200,000 in three years.
The Semi is equipped with three independent motorsall of them installed on the rear wheels of the tractor, to be able to take the semi-trailer to the 60 mph in just 20 seconds, which for a 37 ton truck is a job. The batteries of both versions can be recharged in the new 1400 kW Megachargers (which Tesla is already installing), which allow up to 70% charge in just 30 minutes.
