Turkey tested home-made weapons made for the navy

Naval News reports that the Turkish army has finished testing the home-made weapon systems it developed for the navy.

On the site, it is said that “Turkey’s state corporation, Makine Kimya Endüstrisi, has completed the qualification tests of the 76 mm guns it developed for the country’s navy, and these weapons were tested on a military frigate of the Burak class.”

Stating that Machinery Chemical Industry developed these weapons in collaboration with three local contractors and the Istanbul shipyard, the site said, “Tests of these weapons were conducted in the Gulf of Saros and experts praised the capabilities of these weapons,” said Yasin Akdır, CEO of “MKE.” .

“MKE” also said that the production of these weapons will compensate Turkey for similar weapons imported from other countries, and a special coating has been applied to the barrels of these weapons to help extend their service life.

Each of the aforementioned guns weighs around 7500 kg, can fire 80 rounds per minute, can hit targets at a distance of 16 km and can use training shells with a range of 20 km.
