A tropical system along the west coast of Africa is approaching Cape Verde with the probability of evolving into a tropical depression in the next 48 hours, the National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics (INMG) reported on Monday.
According to the institute, while traveling in a west-northwest direction, the system may affect the weather in the archipelago on August 31 and September 1.
“The passage of this system may be accompanied by precipitation, intensification of the wind and possible worsening of the state of the sea, with a greater incidence in the north-northeast of the archipelago,” said the INMG, which promised to monitor the system in the coming hours. .
Cape Verde has been experiencing a severe drought for almost four years that conditions agricultural activity in almost the entire archipelago, but in recent days it has rained a little throughout the archipelago.
On July 11, Cape Verdean authorities predicted a rainier agricultural season this year, and weather forecasts did not rule out the occurrence of extreme events, such as heavy rains, tropical depressions, strong winds, and tidal waves.
