Tesla attention! Nio ET7 is on its way to Europe

In a few days, the first shipment of ET7 destined for European markets will arrive at the port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands.. Coming from China, the Nio electric saloon is positioned as an alternative to consider in the E segment, that of large or executive family models (more than 4.9 meters in length).

Just over 5 meters long, the ET7 is intended to compete with Mercedes, Audi, BMW of this caliber, specifically focusing on luxury vehicles. However, it will not be just European brands premium having to deal with competition from the young Chinese brand, founded less than eight years ago. Tesla will also face this new rival for its Model S. And Nio, as the brand led by Elon Musk, has been surprising and innovative. just remember that had as a letter of introduction the EP9, a tram that in 2017 became the fastest on the Nürburgring circuitsetting a new one-time record, both among battery-powered models and those powered by combustion engines.

Beware of this Chinese: Nio ET7 could be Tesla’s greatest adversary

As planned and announced, after receiving the “green light” to market its vehicles in Europe, the Chinese brand continued with its commercial strategy, initially focusing on selected markets such as Norway, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands. The great SUV ES8, rival of Tesla’s Model X, was the first to land on the Old Continent, where it cleared up any doubts that might exist in the safety chapter, to which Euro NCAP awarded the highest rating (five stars). .

Now, about a year and a half after the official presentation of the ET7, it’s time for this sedan. with a series of very interesting arguments to join the ES8 and “encourage” the movement in the brand’s battery change stations, reducing the battery recharging operation to minutes. This is an asset that Nio does not want to give up to differentiate itself from the competition, which does not even have a network of stations of this type planned. The reality is that the vast majority of manufacturers focus solely on a network of charging stations and not all brands do so with dynamism and large investments.

It is not known which versions of the ET7 are in transit, but the brand is most likely determined to make a good impression, exerting its greatest assets. And autonomy is one of them. There are three battery options, namely with a capacity of 70, 100 and 150 kWh, corresponding to more than 500 km, more than 700 km and more than 1000 km respectively. But these are values ​​obtained in NEDC, so it can be estimated that they will correspond to almost 400, 530 and 750 km in WLTP. However, the more generous accumulator will only be available later this year. The truth is that, for now, Nio has managed to establish the second best aerodynamic penetration coefficient on the market, for a serial production model, with all that this contributes to increasing energy efficiency and, therefore, going further with the same battery capacity. Initially, the mark pointed to 0.23, but managed to achieve a Cx of just 0.208, which puts it ahead of the Lucid Air (0.21) and the Mercedes EQS 580 4MATIC (0.029), tied with the Tesla Model S and just behind the EQS 450+ (0.200).


The most powerful version mounts two electric motors, 180 kW at the front and 300 kW at the rear, to deliver a combined power of 480 kW (653 hp) and 850 Nm of torque.. It announces 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and 33.5 meters in 100-0 km/h, with Brembo brakes as standard.

The prices in the different European markets have not yet been communicated. What is known, yes, is that Nio intends to be present in 25 countries in 2025 and that ET5, a kind of ET7 in a more compact version, will arrive on the Old Continent already next year.
