POR Lisbon 2020 financed more than 70 urban mobility projects with 40 million euros

The Lisbon Operational Program (POR Lisboa 2020) has already financed around 70 urban mobility projects in the Metropolitan Area of ​​Lisbon (AML) with more than 40 million euros, representing a global investment of 76.4 million euros .

On balance, the Regional Commission for the Coordination and Development of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (CCDR-LVT) revealed this Thursday that POR Lisbon 2020 supported more than 70 Sustainable Urban Mobility projects with 43,488,478 euros, which represents around 50% of a global investment of 76.4 million euros, to help meet climate goalsnamely by creating pedestrian and cycle paths, transport interfaces, modernizing ticketing systems and promoting the use of public transport.

“It is necessary to provide our cities with means and infrastructures so that the sustainable transition becomes a reality. There is a need to reduce the demand for private transport, increase spaces for pedestrians and bicycle paths and promote less polluting energy solutions, which will help us in the transition to a low-carbon economy”, highlighted Teresa Almeida, president of CCDR-LVT and manager of the POR Lisbon 2020, noting that this support represents “a significant step towards this reality”, which will continue to be developed in the next program until 2027.

Among the projects supported, POR Lisboa 2020 contributed to the AML Ticketing and Information System, including the new intermodal ticketing and passenger information system based on real-time data, which provides “clear benefits in terms of promoting the use of transport, savings time and reduce the environmental footprint.

This project, considered “structuring for mobility” in AML, with an investment of 7.9 million eurosof which around 4 million euros were supported by the program.

Among the projects supported in this area by the regional program is also the construction of the Ericeira Intermodal Park, with the implementation of a shuttle system using minibuses, in an investment of 1.9 million euros, with the support of 1, 1 million euros from the European Union Regional Development Fund (ERDF), “to respond to the scarce parking of light vehicles” in the town, a situation that is considered “chaotic” in summer, “which constitutes a serious disincentive factor of bathing frequency. and tourist areas of Ericeira and consequently to its economic and environmental development”.

More than 2.7 million euros (out of an investment of 4.5 million euros) financed the Setúbal Interface, with the construction of a parking lot for 117 light vehiclesin conjunction with the bus terminal project with parking for 14 buses.

The Business Cycle Route, between the Paço de Arcos (Oeiras) railway station and the Quinta da Fonte and Lagoas Parque Business Parks (an investment of 1.4 million euros, which corresponded to an ERDF aid of more than 1.3 MEuro ), and the Cycling Network of the Agualva-Queluz axes (Sintra), including the section of more than three kilometers from Massamá to Queluz Belas, in an eligible investment of 2.5 million euros, which corresponded to an ERDF aid of 1.3 million euros, other projects were contemplated.

The creation of “30 zones” in the Historic Center of Odivelas has also been supported (1 million euros with ERDF support of 605,532 euros), the creation of a corridor dedicated to Public Transport (BUS Corridor) and smooth modes on Avenida 1º de Maio, in Vale da Amoreira, in Moita (1.8 million euros with FEDER support of 945,142 euros), the requalification of the bike/pedestrian lane of Estrada Nacional 10, in Póvoa de Santa Iria, Forte da Casa and Alverca do Ribatejo, in the municipality of Vila Franca de Xira, (investment of 5.5 million euros and FEDER support of 3,058,203 euros), the Lisbon cycling network (7.8 million euros and support of 4.4 million euros from the POR Lisbon 2020) and the structuring cycling network of the municipality of Cascais (2.8 million euros and FEDER support of 1.5 million euros).

The POR Lisbon 2020 has a global endowment of 817,080,783.00 euros, of which 622,627,637.00 euros are from the ERDF and 194,453,146.00 euros from the European Social Fund (ESF).
