“Be careful, you can fly the establish or freeze them all in liquid nitrogen. Good luck.” The message left by a communicator of science on Dani Jiménez’s Twitter, the day before the show, was clairvoyant. This Friday, the physicist, well known in Catalonia for his scientific experiments and the science camps he organizes for children, put into practice an experiment that consisted of using two drums filled with liquid nitrogen. One of them must be driven by the other. That’s not what happened. The experiment ended with an explosion that left at least 15 injured, according to local media.

The accident took place in the House of Culture of Girona, in the Plaza de l’Hospital, late this Friday afternoon. The experience was part of the program of the European Night of Research.
Dani Jiménez and the assistant who helped him in the experiment were hospitalized. Among the injured are nine minors.
On Twitter, the Casa da Cultura announced that due to the accident that occurred on Saturday, October 1, it will remain closed to the public, resuming its usual activity on Monday.
