Naval News reported that the Taiwan Navy took delivery of its largest ship to date, the Yushan landing craft, this Friday.
The ship was handed over in a private ceremony attended by the country’s President Tsai Ing-wen, the Chief of the Navy and several Taiwanese military figures, according to the site.
Built at the China Shipbuilding Corporation, the ship was first launched in April 2021 and sea trials began in July 2022.
With a length of 153 meters, a width of 23 meters and a displacement of 10,600 tons, this ship can move at a speed of 21.5 nautical miles and can travel 7,000 nautical miles per mission.
Yushan is equipped with platforms for transporting armored vehicles, military vehicles and Hummer armored vehicles and platforms for transporting SH-60/MH-60 Seahawk helicopters and can carry 673 sailors.
To ensure its protection, the ship is armed with 32 TC-2N anti-aircraft missiles, a 76 mm gun and a CIWS Phalanx 20 mm machine gun.
