Man pretends to be a plastic surgeon and will have performed cosmetic procedures on celebrities in a clinic in Almada

Fernando Brito advertised himself as a specialist in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. Nevertheless, never did a medical course, Graduate in Computer Management from the Modern University of Lisbon. Working at RClinic in Almada, the fake doctor will have performed aesthetic procedures on various public figures, such as Cinha Jardim, Ágata or Ricardo Carriço.

According to TVI, Fernando Brito is not enrolled in the College of Physicians, information confirmed by the three regional sections. Instead, the fake specialist has a course in international Chinese medicine, in aesthetic acupuncture and has a master’s degree in aesthetic medicine conducted online by an institute called Esneca, but which is not recognized by the General Directorate of Higher Education (DGES).

“For example, if it turns out that the person in question is not a doctor, does not have a medical degree, is not registered with the Medical College, obviously he goes to the competent authorities, he goes to the Public Ministry, because we are talking about a crisis of usurpation of functions”, said Miguel Guimarães, president of the TVI Doctors Order.

For his part, Júlio Matias, president of the Portuguese Society of Plastic Surgery, said that “there are no” specialists in Aesthetic Medicine: “It is a misapplied term.”

In addition, RClinic has only one doctor working for the clinic, in this case António Leitão, a specialist in general and family medicine, according to the health regulatory authority. The clinic’s manager, Rita Figueira —former partner of former judge Rui Rangel and accused in the Lex operation— admitted that there was a “management failure” regarding the regulation of clinical staff, which “intends to correct” in the future.

Still, it constitutes an administrative offense if there is no updated record of the clinical staff of the health establishments, something that can lead to a fine that can range between 1,500 and 45,000 euros.

RClinic, which also has a clinic in Braga, Loulé and Funchal, performs plastic surgeries on public figures, often in exchange for social media posts. As TVI found out, a celebrity’s operation did not go well, and she vowed never to return to space.
