The strong and persistent rain that fell on Thursday afternoon in mainland Portugal caused 137 incidents, with the highest incidence in the districts of Braga and Porto, a Civil Protection source told Lusa.
Between 4:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Continental Portugal recorded 137 occurrencesbeing the district of Braga, with 51, and Porto, with 48, the most affected, explained José Costa, operations officer of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC).
During that period, 367 operators participated, supported by 160 vehicles, it added.
The Vila Real district was also one of the most affected, but with a lower incidence, the peak of occurrences occurring between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and, at 9:30 p.m., the adverse weather conditions began to decrease, Jose Costa said. .
The main facts include floods, fallen trees and street cleaning due to the strong and persistent rains.
“There are no indications of injuries so far,” added José Costa.
