Valtteri Bottas already has the new Alfa Romeo: a GTAm

Finn Valtteri Bottas, one of the two works drivers for the Alfa Romeo F1 Team, started the 2023 season at the Bahrain Grand Prix on the right foot. After qualifying 12th on the grid, Bottas worked his way up to eighth in the race, immediately behind the strongest teams Red Bull, Ferrari, Aston Martin and Mercedes.

After Bahrain, the driver changed his racing suit for jeans and t-shirt and he went to Turin to collect the keys (and the rest) of his new utility. The delivery took place at Stellantis & You, the group’s showroom in the Italian city and, contrary to what happens with other clients, the delivery of the new car of the Nordic driver was attended by some of the top managers of the transalpine manufacturer.

Bottas’ new service car is Alfa Romeo’s latest creation in terms of sports cars, a Giulia GTAm powered by a 540hp 2.9 V6 twin-turbo engine. Obviously the driver will feel the difference in power, compared to the approximately 1000 hp that his F1 can achieve in qualifying, but it is more than likely that the more disparate sensation is motivated by the increase in weight, since a 2023 F1 weighs 798 kg . , far from the 1595 kg of the new driver’s car, which only 500 units will be produced.

The basis of the Giulia GTAm is the Quadrifoglio, which now extracts 30 hp more from the 2.9 V6 biturbo engine, weighing 100 kg less with the aim of improving acceleration capacity. Above all, the changes in the aerodynamics of the model stand out, with more generous air inlets at the front, completed by a dissident more protruding front, while at the rear there is a larger wing to increase support for the rear end.
