Pedestrian routes in Madeira remain closed until post-storm assessment

The recommended pedestrian routes in Madeira will remain closed and their safety will be evaluated after the passage of the Óscar depression through the island, reported the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN).

“IFCN calls on locals and tourists not to travel to these areas [levadas] until further notice”, says the institute in a statement, adding that it will release information on the reopening “as the evaluation is carried out”.
