Seven districts of the continent and the Azores under yellow alert for rain

Seven districts on the continent will be under a yellow warning this Thursday and Friday due to the forecast of showers, which can sometimes be intense and accompanied by storms, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

the districts of Viseu, Évora, Guarda, Castelo Branco and Portalegre will be under yellow warning between 12:00 p.m. this Thursday and 00:00 p.m. on Friday.

The yellow warning for Faro and Beja It will be in force between 12:00 p.m. this Thursday and 12:00 p.m. on Friday.

The IPMA also issued a yellow warning due to the rains, which can be intense at times, for the Azores archipelago.

On the islands of Flores and Corvothat constitute the western group of the archipelago, the yellow warning is valid due to “sometimes intense precipitation, which may be accompanied by thunderstorms.” between 3 pm local time (4:00 p.m. in Lisbon) this Thursday and 00:00 hours on Friday.

For the Central group (islands of Faial, Pico, São Jorge, Graciosa and Terceira) the same warning is in effect from 9 p.m. this Thursday until 12 p.m. on Friday.

on the islands of São Miguel and Santa Mariathat form the Eastern Azores group, the yellow warning will be active due to “sometimes intense” rainfall. between 3:00 am on Friday and 00:00 am on Saturday.

The yellow warning, the least serious on a scale of three, is issued whenever a risk situation occurs for certain activities depending on the weather situation.
