The Faro district will be this morning under orange notice due to the forecast of showers, sometimes intense and accompanied by electrical storms, announced this Friday, November 1, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).
In a statement, IPMA said that the orange alert will be in effect on Faro District until 12:00which was later replaced by the yellow warning, at least until 00:00 on Saturday.
The orange warning is issued by the IPMA whenever a moderate to high risk meteorological situation occurs.
The yellow warning, the least serious on a scale of three, is issued whenever a risk situation occurs for certain activities depending on the weather situation.
The districts of Évora, Beja, Castelo Branco and Portalegre are also currently under yellow alert, which will be in effect throughout the day (Friday), due to the rains.
In the case of the district of Setúbal, the yellow notice will come into force from noon.
Hours earlier, the IPMA had already extended the yellow warning issued for the nine islands of the Azores archipelago, due to forecasts of “sometimes intense” rain.
